LaSata announces September Small Business of the Month award recipient

LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Kim LaSata on Wednesday announced L.A.’s Coffee Cafe in Three Rivers as the next recipient of her Small Business of the Month award.

L.A.’s Coffee Cafe was founded in 2000 by Leslie, Jerry and Aimee Robbins. The family opened up shop in an old pump house above the Rocky River, and their business has grown into a staple of the Three Rivers community.

“Not only does the Robbins family dedicate their lives to serving their customers, they have routinely demonstrated a commitment to their community,” said LaSata, R-Coloma. “Since November 2020, they have provided 20 lunches a week to the St. Joseph County Commission on Aging with the help of donations from the community.”

L.A.’s Coffee Cafe has also shown its commitment to supporting America’s veterans — offering their location as a stop for Riki Rachtman’s ride across America to support Stop Soldier Suicide — an organization focused on providing mental health counseling, housing assistance, emergency financial aid, alternative therapies, and more to those who served the country.

“The Robbins family is certainly beyond deserving of this recognition. The work they do for their community and their strong support of America’s heroes are both textbook demonstrations of what this award is supposed to represent,” LaSata said. “I am proud to present L.A.’s Coffee Cafe with this award, and I want to congratulate each member of the Robbins family on their continued success. Being nominated by a loyal customer is, I’m sure, quite a rewarding experience.

“I’d like the community to join me in wishing them the best as they continue their admirable work.”
