LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Kim LaSata made the following statement on Friday, after it was announced 144 businesses throughout Southwest Michigan, including in Berrien, Cass and St. Joseph counties, were recently awarded $800,000 in Michigan Small Business Relief Program grants from the Michigan Strategic Fund.
“Businesses in the 21st Senate District and throughout Southwest Michigan are experiencing unprecedented hardship because of COVID-19 and from executive measures taken to help reduce the spread of the virus,” said LaSata, R-Bainbridge Township. “We are thankful for these Michigan Small Business Relief Program grants, which will help minimize small businesses’ losses, keep them operational, and keep their workers employed. The grants are one of many resources available to help businesses that may be struggling during this uncertain time.”
The relief program was authorized March 19 to provide up to $20 million in grants and loans for small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
