LaSata congratulates New Buffalo Senior High on Blue Ribbon status

LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Kim LaSata reacted Thursday to news that New Buffalo Senior High School has been named as a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.

“I join those in congratulating New Buffalo Senior High School for the distinguished honor of being recognized as a Blue Ribbon School,” said LaSata, R-Bainbridge Township. “It is a testament to all of the hardworking educators, administrators, students, parents and community members who have dedicated so much to the school’s success. Way to go, Bison!”

According to the department, the Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and nonpublic elementary, middle and high schools where students achieve very high learning standards.

New Buffalo Senior High School was one of 13 in Michigan to receive the honor. The schools were recognized for being among the state’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests. Student subgroup performance and high school graduation rates are also at the highest levels.
