LaSata welcomes state champion Colon football team to Capitol

LANSING, Mich. — The Senate welcomed the Colon High School Magi football team to the Capitol on Wednesday in honor of the team’s eight-man Division 1 State Championship victory.

Colon defeated Suttons Bay at the Superior Dome in Marquette on Nov. 23 by a score of 26-14, earning the Magi their first-ever state title.

“On behalf of the residents of the 21st Senate District, congratulations to the Colon Magi football team on earning its first state championship,” said Sen. Kim LaSata, R-Bainbridge Township. “I am proud to be able to recognize the team, its coaching staff, parents, and the Colon community for this wonderful accomplishment.”

LaSata welcomed the team on to the Senate floor during the day’s session to present Head Coach Robbie Hattan with a special tribute.
