LaSata’s SWMI Spirit tournament reaches final four

LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Kim LaSata said Monday that the final four schools have advanced to the semifinal round of the 2020 Southwest Michigan Spirit Tournament.

“This year’s spirit tournament has been going great, even in spite of the coronavirus,” said LaSata, R-Bainbridge Township. “I appreciate all of the support from our area’s students, parents, alumni and community members. Everyone’s participation underscores Southwest Michigan’s school spirit, and I look forward to these great final four matchups.”

The final four matchups feature Countryside Academy vs. Dowagiac and River Valley vs. White Pigeon.

Winners will advance to the championship next week, with voting beginning Monday, March 30 at noon.

On Facebook, the final four features a graphic of the competing schools’ mascots. To vote, participants will “react” to the original posted graphic with a “Haha” to vote for one school or a “Wow” to vote for the other. Each graphic will indicate which reaction method to use for each school.

The second way to participate will be on LaSata’s website. A poll will be posted allowing participants to select their favorite schools in the final four.
