LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Kim LaSata, R-Bainbridge Township, on Friday announced she will host a virtual town hall with state Fire Marshal Kevin Sehlmeyer and city of Niles Fire Department Fire Inspector Driver Rory Iwaniuk to discuss Fire Prevention Month with Southwest Michigan residents.
The free event will be held Thursday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. Residents interested in participating should visit StateSenatorKimLaSata.com/fire-safety-month-virtual-townhall/ to register.
Fire Prevention Month is observed every October with the goal of raising awareness about fire safety to help ensure families have a fire safety plan and are prepared for the unexpected.
MI Prevention is a statewide fire safety campaign, set up through the State Fire Marshal, Bureau of Fire Services and Michigan’s fire safety organizations to reduce the number of fire deaths, injuries and property loss in Michigan.
